DXC's Digital Futures Academy

DXC's Digital Futures Academy

Pupils stepped into the role of Threat Response Analysts at DXC's Digital Futures Academy, gaining hands-on insight into the world of cyber security.

Supported by a subject matter expert from Tanium, they explored how real cyber professionals identify, investigate and respond to security threats. From analysing unusual activity to working through guided lab exercises using real tools and processes, students experienced what it’s truly like to work in a modern Cyber Security Team.

This was a fantastic opportunity to build critical thinking, problem-solving skills and awareness of careers in cyber security.

Thank you again to everyone at DXC and Tanium for this fantastic session!

Turbine Task Force Grand Final at NMIS

Turbine Task Force Grand Final at NMIS

We had the pleasure of attending the Grand Final of Turbine Taskforce – Uniting Society and Sustainability at NMIS.

Funded by the Royal Academy of Engineering and led by Kirsty Pinnell, this inspiring STEM outreach project challenged S1–S3 pupils from schools across Inverclyde, East Glasgow and Renfrewshire to repurpose retired wind turbine blades in ways that would benefit their local communities.

After progressing through competitive heats, the finalist teams (St Columba's High School, Linwood High School & St Andrew's RC) returned to present refined concepts, prototypes and 3D models to an audience and judging panel. The creativity, confidence and innovation on display was exceptional.

Congratulations to the winners from St Columba's High School. Every team should be incredibly proud!

STEM West 2025!

STEM West 2025!

Our flagship STEM West event will return on the 17th & 18th November 2025 at West College Scotland, Clydebank campus.

The aim of the event is to inspire young people to choose STEM subjects at school and give employers the chance to showcase their company or industry. Last year, we welcomed over 800 pupils from four of our local authorities (West Dunbartonshire, Renfrewshire, East Renfrewshire, and Inverclyde) along with more than 50 exhibitors!

If you are an employer interested in showcasing your company and can bring along something interactive or hands on for S2–S4 pupils to engage with over the two days, then we’d love to hear from you. Even if you can only attend one of the days, it would be great to have you involved!

If you’re interested in showcasing at STEM West 2025, please click here to complete the attendance form.

Remember, this isn’t your usual careers event – we’re looking for something hands on and engaging to capture young people’s interest.

If you have any questions, please email:
clarke.speirs@dywwest.co.uk or taylor.mcateer@dywwest.co.uk

Thanks!
