Glasgow Regional Opportunities for Work (GROW)

Information for employers

GROW is a new programme funded by the JPMorganChase Foundation and delivered by DYW regional groups across the City Region including Glasgow, West and Lanarkshire / East Dunbartonshire (LED) designed to give young people from SIMD 1-2 areas an insight into the world of work across 8 growth sectors: digital, STEM, housing (including construction), net zero / renewables, finance / professional services, hospitality / retail, creative and health & wellbeing.

Taking place across 2 years; year 1 starting in January 2026 involves workplace visits 10am-2pm on a Tue, Wed or Thu where young people gain an insight into the sector from visiting an employer, understanding what they do in a hands-on interactive way. The pupils are in S3 and would be a group of 10. They would arrive in a minibus with a youth worker. Year 2 involves individual pupils going on a weeks’ work experience. We are focusing on Year 1 for now.

The 4 hour window would include lunch and and ideally use of an area in the employer for the pupils to reflect and write up what they've learned towards the end of the session.

At this stage our ask of you is to offer at least 1 session for 1 group (more sessions if possible) – we would be in touch in the coming weeks re date(s) for the visits.
